I saw the Santogold/Diplo album “Top Ranking”in a store a few weeks ago and knew I had to have it.
On Saturday, it was mine and rumour has it she’ll be in Toronto tonight. I’m playing in a soccer game, so I probably won’t go but enjoy this track courtesy of Leather Canary or find more Santogold here, Diplo here.
I was in Ottawa this week and was able to spend some quality time with the Persian Prince.
Inspired by having watched a couple of episodes of America’s Best Dance Crew, I told some people that he had moved to the city to pursue a professional break dancing career and was going by the name Farid B. Real. They thought that was really cool and didn’t even really question the opportunities for professional break dancing in Canada’s capital city.
At the end of the night, the Persian Prince batmanned and I had to walk home by myself.
At least he hooked me up with some nice tracks.
Good times.
Tocotronic - Hi Freaks (Superpitcher’s Beautiful Freaks Mix)
My friend Claudio filmed this clip of a midget dressed like Chucky from the Child’s Play movies rapping on the streets of LA. If you look closely, you can see the mask on the ground beside him. The fake knife that he pretended to stab my friend with is in his back pocket.
“It goes by many names: “The Crisis,” “The Dark Years,” “The Walking Plague,” as well as newer and more “hip” titles such as “World War Z” or “Z War One.” I personally dislike this last moniker as it implies an inevitable “Z War Two.” For me, it will always be “The Zombie War,” and while many may protest the scientific inaccuracy of the word zombie, they will be hard-pressed to discover a more globally accepted term for the creatures that almost caused our extinction. Zombie remains a devestating word, unrivaled in its power to conjure up so many memories or emotions, and it is these memories, and emotions, that are the subject of this book.”
So begins World War Z by Max Brooks, the best book I’ve read all year and probably the best book about zombies ever written.
Inspired, I’ve put collected a couple of zombie-related tracks to celebrate humanity’s victory over the undead hordes.
I asked the cowboy if I could add some shit to this site and he said yes, so here we go. I’m a friend from Australia so I’ll try to add some local perspective from time to time. I’ll try to keep it interesting.
Presets go. Pretty mainstream now i think, these guys are so big right now they get remixed for BMW commercials…
the original joint is here and it won’t let me embed it.
The Drake Hotel reminds me of bars in Australia, and that reminds me of Sneaky Sound System. In the photo booth before us was a guy with his shirt off and a hot chick. Afterward, the guy bought us a round of beer, then drank Micker’s.
Check out this wicked remix of UFO by 18 year-old Melbourne prodigy RDCTBR.
Also make sure you check out RDCTBR’s Myspace page - it’s got an amazing background, the kind that is only designed by innate talent.
