Pure Santogold

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008

I saw the Santogold/Diplo album “Top Ranking”in a store a few weeks ago and knew I had to have it.

On Saturday, it was mine and rumour has it she’ll be in Toronto tonight. I’m playing in a soccer game, so I probably won’t go but enjoy this track courtesy of Leather Canary or find more Santogold here, Diplo here.

Capital City Goofballs

Capital City GoofballI was in Ottawa this week and was able to spend some quality time with the Persian Prince.

Inspired by having watched a couple of episodes of America’s Best Dance Crew, I told some people that he had moved to the city to pursue a professional break dancing career and was going by the name Farid B. Real. They thought that was really cool and didn’t even really question the opportunities for professional break dancing in Canada’s capital city.

At the end of the night, the Persian Prince batmanned and I had to walk home by myself.

At least he hooked me up with some nice tracks.

Good times.

Tocotronic - Hi Freaks (Superpitcher’s Beautiful Freaks Mix)

Hot Chip - One Pure Thought (Supermayer Remix)

Guilty Pleasures

I’ve totally been digging these two tracks that I got from Dancefloor Mayhem. Pure pop candy.

Boombox Clip (LA Riots remix) - Kylie Minogue

I Kissed a Girl (Vanderbilt remix) - Katy Perry

Photo Booth at the Drake

The Drake Hotel reminds me of bars in Australia, and that reminds me of Sneaky Sound System. In the photo booth before us was a guy with his shirt off and a hot chick. Afterward, the guy bought us a round of beer, then drank Micker’s.

Check out this wicked remix of UFO by 18 year-old Melbourne prodigy RDCTBR.

Also make sure you check out RDCTBR’s Myspace page - it’s got an amazing background, the kind that is only designed by innate talent.

If you feel like supporting them, buy some Tronik Youth on iTunes or check out their MySpace page.

(Props to TRASH MENAGERIE for the image and the tracks.)

Who’s that girl?

Tuesday, May 13th, 2008

Since we’re now a couple of posts deep here at Nineteen Ninety Never I guess its finally time to introduce the site’s icon: Ayumi Hamasaki. She’s one of those insanely popular J-pop girls so photoshopping one of her pictures to make her look like the undead seemed somehow fitting.

And we can’t talk about her without sharing one of her songs. I have no idea where I got it, but here is Ayumi Hamasaki’s Grateful Days (Para One Remix):
