Men Machines

There has been a lot of talk lately about the connections the Jigga might have to secret societies like the Masons.

It makes me wonder what these theorists would make to Jay-Z’s connections to German electro-pioneers and avid cyclists Kraftwerk. In the track “Sunshine,” it definitely sounds like he samples the Kraftwerk track “Man Machine” from their album of the same name.

Jay-Z - Sunshine

Kraftwerk - The Man Machine

I remember first realizing where Jay-Z got that sample from and being blown away. Probably more blown away than was warranted. Someone needs to do a mashup of these two songs.

And remember: its not a crazy conspiracy theory if it actually turns out to be true.

Good call. Kraftwerk is def a strong influence if not an outright sample in Sunshine..
Though the type of “echoed” keyboards sound reminds me of hip-hop tracks in the nineties like B.I.G.’s “Honey” with Maria Carey..

i forget their name but some mid-90’s hip-hop/r&b group had a popular single using the sample you have in mind. kraftwerk gets sampled alot by hip hop artists, ever since afrika bambaataa.

Although this song has been sampled quite a bit, I always associate it with The Fearless Four’s “Rockin’ It”. The beats on Jay-Z’s records have always been more interesting to me than his lyrics. Many have been pretty incredible.
